Using your words

I think when we just say to a child, use your words, I think we need to go a step further and help them with the words they need to say. So if they’re having a little bit of trouble getting along with another child, you know, if they’re having a little conflict over a toy or over a resource, maybe we could help the child by saying you use your words. You could say it’s my turn. Or you could say I had it first. Or if a child doesn’t have very much vocabulary, they may need your help.
